Situated in Limerick, Coonagh Cross is more than just a shopping experience.  Phase 1 has already begun with the opening of Tesco on Monday 22nd October 2007. The shopping centre is scheduled to open in 2008.

The 250,000 sq ft (23,250 sq m) retail development includes a 48,600 sq ft Tesco store scheduled for completion in October of this year. As well as Tesco, the Centre will include a mix of major Irish and international retail brand names in its 25 unit first Phase.

Main contractor Sisk has fast tracked its construction programme into 15 months and is well on target for the completion of Phase 1 by March 2008. Structural steelwork erection is progressing at great speed and many of the major contractor appointments have now been formalised.

The site, set on 42 acres at Clondrinagh, Clonaconane, is being developed by leading Irish and International developer Limerick based Chieftain Construction Limited.

With excellent frontage onto the main N18 Limerick to Galway National Road, combined with the Limerick Southern Ring Road Phase II (target completion 2008) the development occupies a pivotal position with unrivalled links to all the surrounding population centres and national transport corridors.

It is envisaged that in 500+ new permanent and part time jobs will be created upon completion of Phase 1 of the development. As well as providing 1,500 free car parking spaces and a new access roundabout adjacent to the Clondrinagh Industrial Estate, the development will address the significant retail imbalance that exists between the north and south sides of the River Shannon.

Founded in 1992, by CEO Ger O’Rourke, Chieftains main activities are in residential property in Limerick and Clare, but in recent years the company has experienced rapid expansion and business development in Ireland and has a growing number of substantial global projects internationally including the UK, USA and South Africa.

With an established reputation for quality and excellence, Chieftain employs 200+ direct employees and 250+ indirect employees. Chieftain is now one of the largest and most successful employers in the West of Ireland with offices in Ireland, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Africa.
