Chieftain Sailing team is a highly successful yacht racing team, which competes at the highest level of international sailing. Chieftain yacht was launched in New Zealand in 2005 and made it victorious international debut at the 61st Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race in Austrailia. The race is renowened as on e of the worlds most challenging yacht races in Austrailia. The race is renowned as one of the worlds most challenging yacht races, the crew of Chieftain clinched first place in its division and coming fourth overall amongst a fleet of eighty five yachts.

Chieftain built on that success throughout 2006 dominating the European sailing scene with victories in UK National Championships, Round Britian and Ireland Race and the Casicis Race to name a few. The seas was topped off with the prestigious award of ICRA boat of the Year for 2006 and captain Ger O'Rourke was awarded Sailor of the Year 2006.
